Company Overview

Bluebird Botanicals is considered a leading manufacturer of high-quality hemp extracts and CBD oil. They’ve played an integral role in creating the hemp/CBD industry, and continually help break ground for the industry at large.

The company’s mission to create a clean and positive impact on the industry earned them title of “#1 Hemp Company/Product” from the Cannabis Business Awards in 2018 and the “#1 Hemp-CBD company” at The Denver Post’s Cannabist Awards in 2016.

The Bluebird Botanicals Story

The company was found in Colorado in 2012 by Brandon J. Beatty, an herbalist, entrepreneur and ardent hemp advocate who’s on a mission to make the world a better, more sustainable place. The award-winning company is focused on providing high-quality, lab-tested CBD oil products.

Today, industry advocacy remains a pillar of the brand, and Bluebird Botanicals devotes much time and resources to support the accessibility of high-quality hemp. In early 2019, Beatty was elected Executive Vice President of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, whose purpose is to protect all aspects of the hemp industry through legislative and regulatory avenues at the state and federal levels.

In the fall of 2013, Bluebird Botanicals launched its first hemp-CBD product line. It has grown rapidly since then, and the company gradually established a strong internet presence and solid reputation among the hemp and cannabis industries. Besides offering excellent customer service, they are involved in public education efforts through their Greener Grass podcast and offer assistance to veterans, the disabled and those on low incomes to ease access to high-quality CBD oil products.

Brandon J. Beatty

A self-taught entrepreneur and passionate cannabis activist, founder and CEO Brandon J. Beatty is also a co-founder and served as the first treasurer of the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation, a non-profit corporation dedicated to hemp research. An investor with The ArcView Group, Beatty also serves as an advisor to both The National Hemp Association & the Hemp Connoisseur.

The Team

Established in 2012, Bluebird Botanicals now has 38 employees and is currently one of the largest companies in the industry.

Location

Bluebird Botanicals operates out of Louisville, Colorado in its headquarters at 410 S. Arthur Avenue. They have a second office in the UK at W1W 8HF, Greater London. Bluebird Botanicals products are shipped to customers in multiple countries, and available for sale in various retail locations throughout the United States. Customers can get more information about CBD oil products by contacting their US office at (720) 726-5132 or their UK office at +44 20-3617-1771.

Finances

Launched in 2012, Bluebird Botanicals remains a privately-owned company. In 2015, the company had sales of $3.75 million; which jumped to $4.9 million in 2016. The company logged sales of more $6.5 million in 2017, and continues to grow in spite of advertising restrictions on the industry.

Regulation & Litigation

Bluebird Botanicals has been struggling with its credit card processing. Beatty says this is due to the fact that major banks and PayPal won’t work with them. They’ve had to resort to using offshore accounts called aggregate solutions, which bundle purchases and then process them. Bluebird Botanicals is owed more than $1,000,000 dollars by four different processors, and has lawsuits underway against these aggregate solutions and hopes to get 40% of what is owed to them.

Industry Reviews

After judging the company on its product price and value, CBD content, color and taste, CannaInsider gives Bluebird Botanicals a solid 4.7 out of 5 stars rating. They compliment Bluebird Botanicals for its high-quality line of blended cannabidiol. Bluebird Botanicals have set a high standard in accountability by making all their lab test results available to the public. Customers are also impressed with the simplicity of ordering and the speed of shipping.

Review

Ever since CBD emerged as a substance that may help alleviate some medical problems, many manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon to produce CBD products. Unfortunately, many of these companies flooded the market with inferior-quality products.

Slowly, that is changing, and many companies now are more dedicated to producing quality CBD products. The Bluebird Botanicals company, for one, is highly committed to only producing the best quality CBD products. All their products go through a rigorous third-party testing process.

Bluebird Botanicals also doesn’t adulterate their products with artificial ingredients, yet they still produce CBD products that are reasonably priced. They even offer a program for financial assistance to those in need. The company is active in hemp advocacy groups and organizations.

Bluebird Botanicals started in 2012 as Gaia Botanicals. Founder Brandon J. Beatty is a known cannabis advocate and hemp entrepreneur. The company’s main mission is to make a positive effect on CBD use by making it more accessible.

Today, many CBD brands claim that they’re promoting CBD products for wellness, but don’t really go beyond the sales aspect. This isn’t the case with Bluebird Botanicals; they actually “walk the walk.” Bluebird Botanicals demonstrates this by its involvement in hemp policy reform and via partnerships with various trade associations, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions.

Bluebird Botanicals products are available in retail outlets across the US, and are shipped to many countries. They also offer an assistance program providing discounts to veterans, low-income earners, and persons with disabilities.

The company also makes regular donations to non-profit organizations, and aim to increase the awareness of the benefits of CBD products via their website and social media platforms. Their blog focuses on emerging trends in CBD, tips on how to get more value for your purchase, and how to use their products. Their podcasts include interviews with CBD researchers, experts and influencers.

The main base of the company’s operations is in Louisville, Colorado. They also have a UK office in England. The sources of the company’s raw hemp materials are their local farms, which produce plants containing high levels of beneficial terpenes and cannabidiol.

After the extraction of the oils, they’re sent to third-party laboratories for analysis and testing, to ensure they pass FDA Current Good Manufacturing Practices before they’re prepared for production.

Bluebird Botanical’s sustainability and responsibility practices go well beyond their hemp extract process. They were the very first CBD company certified by the Detox Project as glyphosate-free. Glyphosate is one of the world’s most-used pesticides. They are one of 12 CBD producers to hold a US Hemp Authority certificate, awarded based on their commitment to safe standards for manufacturing. Bluebird Botanicals products are bioplastic, cruelty-free, and recyclable.
